maoji is run by two midwestern artists, mj and nolan, who happen to be in love (tehe!). we have been combining our talents ever since we met, back in 2016 (unc, amiright?!), but we've never really sold any of our joint creations... until now!! we have decided to name this endeavor after our two greatest muses: our cats, mao and jiji! we are so glad you've stopped by and we hope to see you around!

nolan is furniture designer/maker. he is currently working in new builds, doing trim and cabinets full-time. his dream is to build furniture and customs full-time. maoji is not only a way for us to more securely make that transition from employment to self-employment, but also a place for us to continue to create things together, long after his furniture brand takes off!

mj is a mixed-media artist who dabbles in design, illustration, pyrography and pretty much whatever else she can get her hands on (pottery soon, she hopes!). inspired by 90's street culture, traditional tattoos, good music and stark typography, she brings a unique style to the table (pun intended. because... nolan builds tables. hahah. ..ha. sorry.)
